Balsa Glider - MEAM 101
The Assignment We were given a old fashion wind up motor and told to build something "cool." Instead of taking the easy root, my fiends and I decided to tackle something a little more challenging that a little walker or novelty toy. With limited experience with aircraft we did some research on wing size and shape. The final product after just 2 weeks of work was a five foot wingspan glider weighing in at ~300g. We had many successful flights and the final product turn out beautifully! It still hang on my ceiling to this day.

The wind up toy powered a small propeller in the front. We had trouble with the repeat ability of the motor's run time. Honestly in the end the propeller was more for show because it was difficult to launch the glider and release the prop at the same time
